The Thilawa Special Economic Zone (TSEZ) has launched its annual Scholarship and Student Grant Program for the 2024-2025 academic year, aimed at empowering outstanding high school students in communities affected by the TSEZ project. The program's selection process took place on June 26th and 27th, 2024, at BEHS Aye Mya Thida and BEHS Myaing Thar Yar, where students underwent a rigorous evaluation based on written exams, previous academic records, and recommendations from their homeroom teachers and school principals.
A total of 20 students were selected for this program—six from Grade 12, two from Grade 11, and two from Grade 10 at each of the two schools. These students will receive monthly financial support to help them with their studies. Grade 12 students will receive 70,000 MMK per month, Grade 11 students will receive 60,000 MMK per month, and Grade 10 students will receive 50,000 MMK per month. This financial assistance will be provided to the 2024-2025 Academic Year which covers nine months, from June 2024 to February 2025.
In addition to financial support, the TSEZ Scholarship and Student Grant Program includes opportunities for extracurricular skill improvement, such as a visit to Yangon City. This initiative underscores TSEZ's commitment to enabling students to gain vital skills and knowledge, preparing them to become valuable contributors to society.
