Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD) recently hosted a successful workshop focused on “Raising Awareness about Sustainable Environment at TSEZ”. This one-day event, held at the MJTD Multipurpose Hall on 19 Jun 2024, brought together industry leaders, experts, and representatives from various locators operating within the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (TSEZ).

The workshop was a collaborative effort between the Environment Section of the Operations Department of MJTD and the OSSC Environment Section. It was facilitated by three keynote speakers: Dr. Tin Mar Thein, Deputy Director of the Office Working Group of the Environmental Conservation Department, OSSC, who presented on Environmental Conservation and Its Related Regulations; Ms. Nang Seng Moe, Environment Section Leader from the Operations Department of MJTD, who discussed Operating Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable Factories/Industries; and Mr. Lirio Mannuel Luis Flores, General Manager of the Operations Department, who spoke on the Green Economy.

The primary objectives of the workshop were to:

- Raise awareness among locators about the importance of sustainability and environmental friendliness in their daily operations within TSEZ.

-  Promote and share best practices in sustainable industrial operations, including waste management and pollution control.

- Enhance regulatory compliance with environmental standards and regulations, guiding businesses on effective implementation to ensure sustainable operations within TSEZ.

The workshop was completed with active participation from 70 attendees representing 39 locators, alongside representatives from MJTD, MTSH, and TPD, who contributed valuable insights. The event also featured group presentations where eight groups of locator representatives shared their perspectives on sustainability and environmental friendliness in their daily operations.

MJTD remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly business environment within TSEZ. By bringing together industry stakeholders, this workshop has paved the way for positive change and responsible practices in sustainable environment management at TSEZ.
