To advance physical literacy and well-being among state school students, Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has generously donated a football field and goalposts to Basic Education High School Aye Mya Thida, situated in Aye Mya Thida Ward (Phalan), Kyauk Tan Township. This initiative is designed to enhance the mental and physical wellness, self-esteem, cognitive abilities, and social skills of the students and young adults residing in the neighboring communities of Thilawa SEZ.
The handover and opening ceremony for the football field took place on April 23, 2024, organized through a collaborative endeavor involving the School Committee, village representatives, and the Community Relations Department of Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD).
Mr. Haneda, President and CEO of MJTD, initiated the ceremony with a warm greeting and provided an overview of the purpose behind the donation to all attendees. During the ceremony, Thilawa SEZ officially transferred the relevant documents pertaining to the football field to the school's Headmistress, receiving an appreciation letter from the school in return.
The officials inaugurated the football field by cutting the ribbon, which was followed by an exhilarating friendly match between U19 football teams from Aye Mya Thida Ward and Shwe Pyi Thar Yar Ward. The friendly match commenced with the CEO of MJTD kicking off the soccer ball onto the field, officially signaling the start of the game. The match received enthusiastic support from teachers, students, school committee members, and guests from both communities and Thilawa SEZ. The vibrant atmosphere of the match echoed with cheers and excitement, strengthening bonds not only between the two villages but also between the community and TSEZ.
As a token of goodwill, Thilawa SEZ presented soccer balls as prizes to both participating teams, marking the successful conclusion of the event. This initiative underscores Thilawa SEZ's steadfast commitment to bolstering education and recreational facilities in neighboring communities, thereby fostering holistic development and well-being of the community.
