Thilawa SEZ proudly celebrate World Environment Day 2025 Forum: “Building a Better Sustainable Environment Through Smart Waste Management Practices.”

Thilawa SEZ marked World Environment Day 2025 by hosting the TSEZ World Environment Day 2025 Forum by the theme of “Building a Better Sustainable Environment Through Smart Waste Management Practices.” The event took place at the Fujiwork Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Vocational Training Center on June 11, running from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

As Myanmar’s Leading Economic Zone, Thilawa SEZ plays a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s waste management standards. The forum served as a collaborative platform for industry leaders, environmental specialists, operational staff, and business representatives to share knowledge, discuss regulatory frameworks, and present innovative solutions for responsible industrial waste management in the Thilawa SEZ.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in presentations and lively panel discussions covering:

  • Current practices and challenges in industrial waste management at Thilawa SEZ

  • Technological advancements and industry-driven innovations for sustainable waste solutions

  • Collaboration between businesses, authorities, and local communities to address waste challenges

  • Regulatory policies and compliance frameworks supporting environmental sustainability

The forum featured expert-led sessions on global microplastic pollution and industrial waste managing and innovative solutions for sustainability, with key presentations from:

  • GOLDEN DOWA ECO-SYSTEM MYANMAR CO., LTD
  • INDORAMA VENTURE PACKAGING (MYANMAR) LIMITED
  • MYANMAR KOEI INTERNATIONAL LIMITED
  • MYANMAR JAPAN THILAWA DEVELOPMENT LIMITED (MJTD)

A highlight of the event was the panel discussion, “Collaborative Solutions: Managing Industrial Waste for a Better Future.” Environmental specialists from:

  • OSSC ENVIRONMENT SECTION
  • JFE MYANMAR COATED STEEL CO., LTD
  • BALL ASIA PACIFIC (YANGON) METAL CONTAINER LIMITED
  • MYANMAR JAPAN THILAWA DEVELOPMENT LIMITED (MJTD) shared insights on advancing sustainable waste management in their daily operations.

Through presentations, panel discussions, and the sharing of expertise, this forum achieved its aim of inspiring an industry-driven approach to improving waste management in the Thilawa SEZ by promoting collaboration, leadership, innovation, and sustainable practices.

A total of 41 TSEZ locator companies joined the forum, alongside representatives from Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited (MJTD), Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holdings (MTSH), Thilawa Property Development (TPD), Myanmar Koei International Limited, and the TSMC Environmental Section. In total, 105 participants took part in this milestone event.

Concluding at 3:00 PM, the TSEZ World Environment Day 2025 Forum reaffirmed Thilawa SEZ’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility. By fostering open dialogue, promoting leadership, and championing sustainable innovation, Thilawa SEZ continues to pave the way for a greener, more resilient industrial future.
