Thilawa Special Economic Zone Extends “Share and Care” to Neighboring Communities

Thilawa, February 9

Thilawa Special Economic Zone (TSEZ) demonstrated its commitment to community welfare by donating rice bags to hardship households in the neighboring areas, including Zone A and Zone B Project-Affected Persons (PAPs). This distribution took place from February 6 to February 8, 2024, reaching villages and wards in Kyauk Tan and Thanlyin Township.

The outreach program aims to distribute a 12-kg rice bag to each of approximately 2,200 households in the following areas: Shwe Pyauk Village Tract, Aye Mya Thida Ward, Shwe Pyi Thar Yar Ward, Ah Lwan Suk Village, and Zone A & Zone B (PAPs). Additionally, teachers from seven community schools, four monasteries around the Thilawa SEZ, and a monastery-based orphanage school was also included in the distribution efforts.

This year charitable effort marks the third occasion that Thilawa SEZ has undertaken the Food Assistant Program for Hardship Households since 2021. The program was established with the aim of alleviating some of the challenges faced by local communities during difficult times.

Thilawa SEZ remains committed to fostering a strong bond with its neighboring communities and will continue to explore opportunities to contribute to the well-being of the community people around TSEZ with the spirit of "Share and Care."
