Zone A of Thilawa SEZ consists of 405ha of land, a portion of the 2,400ha allocated by the Myanmar Government for the development of Thilawa SEZ.
Construction of Zone A began in January 2014 and was completed in August 2016. It was developed with the highest quality and standards. Penta Ocean–Suntac partnership was the principal contractor responsible for the construction works, alongside Japanese sub-contractors Kiden for the power distribution lines, Kubota for the water treatment plants and KDDI for the fibre optic cables.

Grand Opening of Zone-A Project
The grand opening ceremony of Zone A of Thilawa SEZ was held on 23rd September 2015. The ceremony, hosted by MJTD, was attended by Myanmar’s then Vice President, U Nyan Tun, and Japan’s Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Taro Aso.
